This is a pitched identity for a logistics company. They have a slight twist in that they specialise in 'white goods' and work for more high-end brands/retailers. The solution is unashamedly simplistic. A circular device was chosen to represent the wheel, the typography is clean and precise and typeset to subtly represent a smile.

In addition to a logo mark the client also requested a new strap line. I thought 'We'll take care of it' summed them up perfectly. In a literal sense, they 'take care' of high value consignments, but it also suggest taking ownership of a project and getting the job done.

Thanks to Tommy G for the lorry illustration.

This is a project from a couple of years ago. I was asked to produce an idea to show the festive 'happenings' on the prestigious Albert Dock in Liverpool. The budget wasn't too high, so I produced an illustration of the Docks in a snow globe. This was juxtaposed with some victorian Christmas illustrations which were knocked back as background textures.

A daft idea for a billboard in town turned into a design for my business card at work. Had a ridiculously small budget for these, so concept had to take precedent over stock and special finish. Always brings a cheeky smile to people's faces when I hand these out.

Each Christmas we send our clients a handy A1 sized calendar/planner for the forthcoming year. We try to give it a Christmassy theme without being too obvious.

We're dreaming of a #FFFFFF Christmas.

When shooting this project I learned that driving an automatic Golf down an ice covered (near vertical) hill can be a bit scary.

Blackwater Bars own and manage a series of bars, nightclubs & restaurants nationwide. The MD is heaviley into tattoo art and heavy metal. The brief was simple... Create a logotype/identity that reflects these interests.

This was my submission for the Type Tarts exhibition organised by Create at Salford. The brief asked entrants to explore the slutty side of typography by producing postcards inspired by prostitute calling cards. I actually surprised myself with the subtle approach I ended up taking (ie. Not drawing a cock).

This bespoke logotype was pitched for the rebrand of Essence Luxury Transport. They were keen to have a purely typographic solution that referenced their Brazilian heritage in some way. After noticing the letter 'e' was at the start, middle and end of the word (representing a journey), I highlighted this with the colours of the Brazilian flag.

The Shield Group required an identity that would allow them to move forwards and start to look as big a deal as their turnover suggests. They work with many prestigious clients such as Jaguar, JCB & Caterpillar (CAT) to name only a few. Their previous 'printer-designed' logo didn't really cut the mustard.

I created a logo that is distinctly British. It is bold, precise and turns it's back on design fads & trends. A major influence for this project was David Gentleman's sublime British Steel marque.

This is a small collection of logos and symbols that were either pitched, used or screwed up and thrown away.

The process of creating a logo is something I love deeply. To manifest meaning into a small mark in a unique & original way is one of the greatest challenges a designer can face.
